SEO copywriting is much different from regular copywriting because with the former you have to satisfy the search engines so you can rank, plus you have to satisfy the people who read your copy. We’ll now jump right into what makes for good SEO copywriting.

It’s common knowledge, and based on a lot of experience, that the heading is one of the most important parts in SEO copy. In this context, you have to keep in mind the search engines plus those who’ll read your copy. Therefore, when your heading has to get attention and create interest, plus you’ll need to optimize the heading for SEO. So when a visitor reaches your site, you should be able to stand out with your heading, or else he/she will just skip to another relevant website. As far as your site is concerned and SEO, skip the frames and don’t use them. Also, never insert frames into your sites if you want to rank well in the search engines. When search engines spiders reach your page, you want to give them a plain HTML page that they can easily go through. Search engine spiders and bots have a tough time with frames. Obviously when the search engines aren’t able explore the frames, there’s no chance that your site would get indexed or ranked. Obviously the simple solution to this is to avoid using frames, altogether. Going too fancy will not only hurt your search engine rankings but at the same time seem to be less appealing to your visitors. It’s good to avoid frames just for compatibilty reasons, and frames are very old technology. Internal site nav structure is important as well, but there’s really no need to get too fancy.

An experienced and professional copywriter will never pad high quality copy with words that have no useful purpose. Just bear in mind that all words must count and have a meaning to the section and the whole. Search engines like targeted information and so do the readers. But that doesn’t mean you’re going to cut down on the content. You have to balance the quantity with quality. Approximately 400 words is a good and standard length to shoot for. However, there really is no one size fits all with regard to content length, so it’s probably best to analyze the situation and make a call about it. However, it is true that sometimes you can’t get around certain things because some things need more explanation than others. Overall, the best approach is to avoid making something long just to make it long.
