Affiliate marketing has been around for quite awhile. You may be fairly new to affiliate marketing and didn’t realize just how long this stuff has been around. Okay, this article is about myth busting so lets get started on busting some of these harmful myths.

Perhaps the biggest myth is that an affiliate will need a large budget in order to be successful at affiliate marketing. Affiliate and internet marketing in general have dozens of success stories, you wouldn’t believe some of the backgrounds and obstacles that some of our fellow marketers have overcome; the good news is that you can do it to. You don’t have to pay for traffic to actually start earning with affiliate marketing. You can have a great start by promoting your site through marketing on forums, video marketing, writing and publishing articles online, etc. It doesn’t take a capital to get to ball rolling in affiliate marketing. Free traffic is very versatile and allows you to get creative with the process. For example, Youtube allows you to upload videos and post a ling that will take visitors back to your site, this is an excellent way of getting massive amounts of traffic to your site. But there will be a time when you will want to enhance your affiliate business and take it to the next level, this is when you will be required invest your money to get traffic from pay per click advertising, media buying, etc. Whether you decide to outsource or jump into paid traffic, both have its pluses and minuses. Your income will continue to grow if you stay consistent and improve each part of your business a little at a time. Going from one stage to another will only help you grow your business on the long term.

As an affiliate marketer myth, you will time and again face the myth that says you shouldn’t promote a particular product because the market is saturated. There is nothing called ‘marketing saturation’ in the affiliate marketing world. In large “saturated” markets there are so many interconnected niches in it that you can build your empire with. Thinking in terms of saturation is self defeating behavior and by thinking in those terms you are self-prophesizing your failure. There is room for you in any niche you want to enter, in fact you can conquer many of them with the right approach. If you reach out to the right people, you’ll see sales coming in from all parts of the world. The myth of saturation will only hold you back so don’t feed into it.

Too many people still believe that all affiliates do is spam. This myth started because of those affiliates who use the wrong, unethical methods for promotion. The fact is, affiliate marketing is just like any other business that stands against any kind of spamming.

These myths may seem harmless but the minute that you let them creep into your mind they will start to affect your decisions and behavior.
